Within hours, erstwhile 2016 PDP governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, emerged the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the September 19 governorship poll in Edo State.
Ize-Iyamu polled 27,838 to emerge the flagbearer in a primary election conducted on Monday in the state.
The Chairman of the election committee and Imo State Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodinmma, announced that two other aspirants in the race, Osaro Obazee polled 2, 724 votes while Dr Pius Odubu got 3,776 votes.
PerSecondNews recalls that suspended APC National Chairman, ex-Gov. Adams Oshiomhole, had canvassed support for Ize-Iyamu, who contested against incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki already disqualified by the party.
Obaseki defected to the People’s Democratic Party at the weekend after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and has picked the PDP’s nomination/expression of interest form for the primary due to be held this week.
