Effective from Monday March 23, the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos; and Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, will be shut against international flights as part of efforts to curtail the coronavirus pandemic.
The Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Musa Nuhu, said the closure will last till April 23.
“Only emergency and essential flights will be operated from both airports within the period,” he said.
Persecondnews recalls that three other international airports — Kano, Enugu and Port Harcourt — have been shut.
So far, Nigeria has recorded 22 confirmed cases of the deadly virus, the latest being seven new cases in Lagos and three in Abuja as at Saturday, March 21.
Nuhu said the measure became necessary due to the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic.
Domestic flight operations will continue
at all airports across the country, he said.
