The hashtag #FreeSowore is currently trending on Nigerian Twitter, as Nigerians call for the release of human rights activist and pro-democracy campaigner, Omoyele Sowore, who was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
The DSS was reported to have invaded Sowore’s apartment in the early hours of Saturday, August 3, 2019, with four trucks, seizing his phones and other electronic gadgets.
The arrest is in connection to his #RevolutionNow campaign, which has gained national and international attention in the last couple of days, following a planned nationwide protest scheduled for Monday, August 5th.
Taking to his twitter handle, Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, share his conversation with a Lagos SUG leader, who reportedly witnessed the arrest.
Also using the hashtag, #FreeSowore on Twitter, many Nigerians have condemned President Buhari for the arrest.
