…judge declares invasion of the Yoruba Nation agitator’s home by the DSS-led security forces as illegal
“We must stop this nonsense in this country. I am sick and tired. The claim by DSS staff that they were robbed and case file missing on their way to court is ridiculous and shameful”
The suit filed at a Federal High Court in Abuja, is asking the court to grant him financial compensation for the infringement of his rights to dignity and human person.
Persecondnews recalls that on August 30, 2021, the DSS had released eight of the 12 aides of Igboho following a court order and perfection of their bail applications several weeks after.
… the eight attended news conference in Abuja with their lawyer, who demanded freedom for four others
…eight of them got bails for N5m each, four others N10 million each
In a statement issued by the group and made available to Persecondnews, MRA’s Legal Officer, Ms Obioma Adesewa Okonkwo, said the “idea of DSS plans to bring about a resolution of this matter, is offensive to any concept of justice or fairness.”
….Justice Obiora Egwuatu said the DSS should show cause why the applicants should not be admitted to bail having been kept incommunicado without trial
…urges Republic of Benin, a democracy and country under law, “to speedily process and grant Igboho’s asylum application”
“There is no law in Nigeria that allows you to arrest somebody in the dead of the night when you are not planning a coup and you are not an armed robber”
