Mele Kyari appointed Nigeria’s new OPEC Envoy

Mr. Mele Kyari, has been appointed as Nigeria’s new representative at the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Per Second News gathered on Saturday. Kyari would be in charge of Nigeria’s team to the OPEC Economic Commission Board which precedes the bi-annual meetings of the OPEC Ministerial conference.

The ECB reviews the global oil markets and makes input from the perspectives of the individual member countries.

Kyari may also be required to provide any support to the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, and the OPEC Governor, Mr Farouk Omar, in the performance of Nigeria’s roles and participation in OPEC matters.

A geologist, Mallam Kyari is a quintessential crude oil marketer with prerequisite certification and outfield pedigree in petroleum economics and crude oil and gas trading.

Within the last 26 years he has traversed the entire value chain of the petroleum industry posting resounding performance in all his assignments and duty posts.

Kyari, is currently the Group general manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division of the NNPC, where he has ensured optimum determination and secured government’s equities and entitlements of crude oil, Natural Gas Liquids, NGL, Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG production from various fiscal arrangements.

Kyari has also created effective systems to ensure maximum transparency and accountability of crude oil and gas sales in the industry. He has also restored sanity to the operations of Crude Oil & Gas Terminals owing to his leadership supervision.
