Amid fresh rumours of trouble in his marriage to young Nollywood star, Regina Daniels, Senator Ned Nwoko has hinted that he may not be done with marriage yet, declaring that every man should marry more than one wife.
In an interview on Channels Television monitored by Persecondnews, the Delta North lawmaker, known for his polygamous lifestyle, defended his beliefs, describing polygamy as both natural and practical.
“Every man should marry more than one wife,” Nwoko said matter-of-factly.
“I’m sure you have a wife and you also have girlfriends. Just imagine me telling you to stand on one leg — you know how difficult that is.
“But to stand on two, three, or four legs is much more balanced. That’s the example.”
Amid laughter, he added, “I feel sorry for those who have only one wife because it’s difficult to stand on one leg.”
When the interviewer pointed out that the Bible doesn’t support polygamy, Nwoko replied,“Well, the Old Testament does, and I am a man of the Old Testament — and also a man of faith.”
Asked directly if he planned to marry more wives, the senator smiled and said,“Well, look, that’s not what we’re here for.”
But when pressed further on whether he would make the same marital choices again, he answered without hesitation,“Of course, yes. I’ll do the same thing again and again.”
On claims that he only marries young and beautiful women, Nwoko said casually, “That’s just the way it is — and the way it should be.”
He also dismissed allegations of domestic violence in his home, insisting,“No, come on, I’m not a violent person. I respect my wives, I love them, and I love my kids.”
