The Department of State Services (DSS) is set to arraign controversial activist Omoyele Sowore and two others on alleged cybercrime charges at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, September 30.

Authorities plan to arraign Omoyele Sowore, along with X Inc (formerly Twitter) and Meta Platforms Inc (Facebook).

Sowore faces charges of allegedly posting false information about President Bola Tinubu, which prosecutors claim was an attempt to cause a breakdown of law and order.

The former presidential candidate, accompanied by supporters, has entered the courtroom and is preparing to enter his plea.

Persecondnews reports that the criminal charges were filed on Tuesday, September 16.

Sowore and the two other defendants are to be docked on a 5-count charge, but only Sowore, who is the 1st defendant in the charge sheet, is in court.

In the 5-count criminal charges marked FHC/ABJ/CR/484/2025, Sowore was accused of using his official X handle page @YeleSowore to tweet: “This criminal @officialPBAT actually went to Brazil to state that there is no more corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!”

The alleged offending post, said to be contrary to Section 24(2)(b) of the Cybercrimes Prohibition and Prevention Act 2024, was said to have been made on August 25, 2025, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court.

Meanwhile, about 25 lawyers have stormed the court to represent Sowore in the trial.
