Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday presided over a high-level meeting of the National Economic Council at the Presidential Villa.
The council brought together state governors and other key figures to discuss urgent economic matters and outline a plan for the nation’s economic progress.
The meeting was attended by prominent state governors, including AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.
Other include Charles Soludo of Anambra State, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Bassey Otu of Cross River State, Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State. The Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retired) also participated in the meeting.
The National Economic Council’s constitutional responsibility is to advise the President on the country’s economic matters.
Specifically, the Council is responsible for coordinating economic planning, allocating revenue, and implementing national economic policies.
