Unity, Expansion on the Cards as New APC Chairman Unveils Vision

1.4k

The newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has vowed to unite all party organs and stakeholders across the nation.

In his acceptance speech today, Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the party’s 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, Yilwatda pledged to work towards fostering cohesion and renewal within the party.

He said: “My pledge, without hesitation, is that I will work with everybody in the party, I will unite the party, I will build the party, and I will expand the party.”

Persecondnews reports that Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who heads the Progressive Governors’ Forum, moved a motion to zone the party’s chairmanship to the North Central at the meeting.

He subsequently proposed Nentawe’s nomination as party chairman, a motion that was seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas.

Following his swearing-in, President Bola Tinubu subtly criticized the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), suggesting that it was logical for members to abandon what he called a “sinking ship.”

He then directed a jab at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), implying that their coalition was muddled and best avoided.

Shifting to a more welcoming tone, President Tinubu extended an open invitation to prospective members, assuring them that the party’s doors were “always open” and that all newcomers would be “wholeheartedly embraced.”

He, however, pledged his unwavering support and cooperation to the newly appointed APC chairman.
