Nigerian hurdler Ezekiel Nathaniel showcased his rapidly developing talent on Saturday at the Diamond League, securing a commendable third-place finish against a field of the world’s best 400m hurdlers.

Nathaniel clocked an impressive 47.88 seconds, a new personal best that highlights his exceptional speed and agility.

Despite admitting to initial jitters, Nathaniel demonstrated remarkable composure, shaking off any early nerves to finish the race strongly.

This impressive performance is a testament to his growing experience and increasing skill on the track, signaling a promising future for the young Nigerian hurdler.

The competition was fierce, with Olympic champion Rai Benjamin and Brazil’s Alison Dos Santos battling it out for the top spot.

Dos Santos emerged victorious, crossing the line in a season’s best time of 46.65s. Benjamin finished a close second, clocking 46.71s.

Persecondnews reports that Nathaniel’s third-place finish is a notable achievement, considering the calibre of athletes he was competing against.

Nathaniel’s performance is a continuation of his stellar 2025 season.

The reigning NCAA 400m hurdles champion has been on a roll, clinching the US collegiate title in Eugene with a time of 47.49s.

Earlier in the year, he set a new African indoor record in the 400m with an impressive time of 44.74s.

His consistency on the American circuit earned him the NCAA Men’s Track Athlete of the Year award, further solidifying his reputation as one of the top athletes in his field.
