South African billionaire Patrice Motsepe has been re-elected as the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Motsepe, who was first elected in 2021, ran unopposed and will lead CAF for another four years.

Persecondnews reports that the re-election was confirmed at the CAF 14th Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday.

As president, Motsepe has implemented several changes, including increasing the prize money for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) by over 40% to $7 million.

Under his leadership, the prize money for the CAF men’s and women’s Champions Leagues was also increased.

Additionally, Motsepe oversaw the establishment of the African Football League (ASL), which held its first edition in 2023.
