Alleged homosexual advances for song promotion: Don Jazzy under fire

Music executive and founder of Mavin Records, Michael Collins, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has found himself at the centre of an online controversy.

The backlash follows his comment on a post by popular skitmaker Oluwadolarz, who recently transitioned into music.

Oluwadolarz shared a disturbing message he received from an unnamed individual on his social media.

According to him, the man promised to make his song a hit, pushing it to the top of the charts, but only if Oluwadolarz agreed to engage in sexual activities with him.

“Bend down, and I’ll make your song number one,” the man allegedly said.

The revelation immediately sparked outrage among fans and followers of the comic star, with many urging him to speak up and expose the individual.

“Name and shame the person,” one fan commented, echoing the sentiments of numerous others who wanted the man held accountable for the inappropriate proposition.

However, the controversy escalated when Don Jazzy entered the conversation.

The music mogul commented on the post, asking Oluwadolarz to reveal the name of the individual in question.

“Mention the name of the person, or it would seem like you are lying,” Don Jazzy reportedly wrote.

Don Jazzy’s comment did not sit well with many fans, who quickly took to social media to criticize him.

Several people accused him of being defensive and trying to protect himself, despite the fact that no one had linked him to the situation.

“Why is Don Jazzy always quick to ask for names? Feeling guilty or what?” A Twitter user posted.

This is not the first time Don Jazzy has come under attack for such comments.

Earlier this year, the Mavin Records boss was involved in a similar situation when he asked Nollywood actor Kunle Remi to disclose the name of a prominent individual who allegedly made sexual advances toward him in exchange for roles.

The incident had drawn mixed reactions, but this time, the backlash has been more severe.

One fan criticized Don Jazzy, saying, “Why does Don Jazzy always want people to drop names? Are you afraid of being exposed or what?”

Others accused him of trying to gaslight victims into keeping quiet.

“He should have just shown support for Oluwadolarz instead of demanding proof,” another commenter added.

Some fans even speculated that Don Jazzy’s insistence on naming names is a way to divert attention.

“Every time this kind of thing comes up, Don Jazzy is always the first to comment. It’s giving suspicious vibes,” one Instagram user wrote, attracting hundreds of likes and replies agreeing with the sentiment.

Many also defended Oluwadolarz, urging him not to feel pressured into naming the person if he wasn’t ready.

“Naming names might not always be the safest option for victims, especially in a toxic industry like this. Don Jazzy should know better,” a user tweeted.

As the online uproar continued, some fans took to social media to call Don Jazzy out for being insensitive.

“The fact that Don Jazzy immediately jumped to demanding names shows how dismissive he is of victims’ experiences. He needs to do better,” a Twitter user posted.

Another fan commented, “This is the same industry where sexual exploitation has been going on for years. Instead of being part of the solution, Don Jazzy seems to be more concerned about who’s saying what.”

Despite the intense criticism, Don Jazzy has yet to respond directly to the backlash.

However, some fans have come to his defence, arguing that he may have simply wanted clarity.

“Maybe he’s just trying to get the truth out there. Let’s not jump to conclusions,” a supporter tweeted.

Even with those defending him, the overwhelming sentiment online seems to be against Don Jazzy this time around.

Many continue to call for him to approach sensitive topics with more tact and understanding, especially given the power dynamics in the entertainment industry.

As of now, Oluwadolarz has not responded to Don Jazzy’s comment or to the continued pleas from fans asking him to name the individual in question.

The situation remains a topic issue across social media platforms, with many waiting to see how both parties will address the growing controversy.
