Leave Fubara to govern Rivers in peace, Wike’s ex-commissioner, Tam-George, tells Wike

Mr. Austin Tam-George, a former Commissioner for Information in ex-Gov. Nyesom Wike’s administration in Rivers State, has advised Wike to concentrate on his current assignment as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and refrain from interfering with state governance.

Tam-George called on his former boss to allow the current state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to work for the people without hindrance and also cease any attempts to destabilize the state.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Monday, Tam-George expressed his disappointment in the former Rivers governor.

He said: “I am very disappointed in what the minister is doing. He is the one orchestrating this. He is the one who has set forth a process to destabilise the state.

“I was the Commissioner for Information in the previous administration, so I’m extremely disappointed in the minister.

“What I expected him to do was to, you know, focus on his mandate. He is got a clear administrative mandate in the FCT. The FCT has one of the worst public schools in Nigeria.

“He has a full plate there in order to deliver service. But he’s not doing that.
Instead, he is focussing on how to destabilise River State, and obviously, Rivers people are going to resist him every time.

“What I expected the FCT minister to do was to say, ‘Look, I have had my time in government. Now, I’ve got to focus on what I have in Abuja.

“So, what the governor is doing now is trying to recalibrate the system to make sure that he brings effective administration to the state. So, for God’s sake, let us allow Gov. Fubara to do his work.”
