Arsenal secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in Matchweek 2 of the UEFA Champions League, thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.

Havertz, named Player of the Match, headed home the opener in the 20th minute, beating Donnarumma with a well-timed leap to Leandro Trossard’s cross.

Saka doubled the lead with a perfectly placed free kick just 15 minutes later.

Manager Mikel Arteta praised Havertz, calling him “unbelievable” and highlighting his football brain, timing, and work ethic.

Havertz has now scored five goals in nine matches this season, surpassing his total from last season.

“Arsenal’s win over PSG is a significant statement of intent in the Champions League,” Havertz said. “We’re contenders, and victories like this give us a big boost.”

Following the loss, Marquinhos spoke to Canal+ to reveal what went wrong for the Ligue 1 side.

“We had plenty of possession, but we didn’t move enough into the open spaces, and we need to be more aggressive and find the back of the net,” Marquinhos told the French outlet.

“In the second half, we controlled the ball, but we created very few opportunities. In the Champions League, we have to do better than that.

“We’re a team that likes to play with the ball and maintain possession. We try to draw the opponent in to create space and capitalize on it, but we didn’t manage to do that today.

“Every team has its strengths and weaknesses, and we paid the price for conceding goals.”
