Mr. Muhammadu Yahaya, Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, has strongly condemned the brutal insurgents’ attacks at Mafa in the Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State, describing them as a reprehensible act of violence.

Persecondnews reports that suspected Boko Haram insurgents went on a rampage in the area, killing people, looting, and burning down shops and houses.

In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Mr. Ismaila Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs at Gombe Government House, Yahaya condemned the attacks as a brutal and senseless act of violence that have inflicted profound sorrow and suffering on the affected families and communities.

He commended the security forces for their efforts against the remnants of criminal groups but emphasized the need for intensified efforts to track and apprehend those responsible for the attacks.

He said: “This brutal act must not go unpunished. I call on security agencies to double their efforts and ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.”

The Chairman of the NSGF reiterated the governors’ dedication to backing initiatives that promote peace and security in the region, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to prevent similar tragedies.

He also expressed the forum’s condolences to the grieving families and the Yobe State Government, offering prayers for those who lost their lives and wishing a swift recovery for those injured.
