After eight days, Gov. Sani lifts curfew in Kaduna, Zaria

1.6k

Barely a week after imposing a curfew on Kaduna and Zaria cities in the wake of a recent hunger protest, Kaduna State Gov. Uba Sani has lifted the dusk-to-dawn prohibition effective immediately.

Mr. Samuel Aruwan, supervising the Internal Security and Home Affairs Ministry as Commissioner, announced in a statement on Tuesday in Kaduna that the 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. curfew has been lifted.

Persecondnews recalls that Sani had on August 5 imposed a 24-hour curfew on the two cities to prevent a breakdown of law and order following the violent activities of some hoodlums who vandalized and looted public and private properties during the 10-day nationwide hunger protest.

The governor had eased the curfew on August 8, reviewing the 24-hour curfew to a partial one – from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.
