A landmark victory has been secured for Zimbabwe as Makanaishe Charamba and Tapiwanashe Makarawu qualified for the final of the men’s 200m at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Both Charamba and Makarawu secured two landmark qualifications for their country, getting the next fastest times from their semifinal heats.
Charamba finished 3rd in heat 2 with a time of 20.31s, while Makarawu finished 3rd in heat 3, crossing the line in 20.16s.
Their impressive runs eliminated the reigning champion, Andre De Grasse, from the final.
Persecondnews reports that four Africans will compete in the final on Thursday: two from Zimbabwe, Joseph Fahnbulleh from Liberia, and Letsile Tebogo from Botswana.
