President Bola Tinubu has formally welcomed former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Persecondnews reports that Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi led the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to the Aso Rock villa on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with the president, Ayim said Tinubu’s administration is doing well to cater to the needs of citizens.

He said there is a need for Nigerians to come together and ensure that the country progresses.

“This is a new dawn, and many people have agreed that the present administration is doing very well,” Anyim said.

“My determination is that Nigeria moves forward. There is a need that we all should put hands together to move the country forward.”

Persecondnews recalls that Anyim had defected from the People’s Democratic Party to the ruling APC.

He announced his defection at Pa Oruta Ngele Township, Abakaliki, the state capital, during the grand finale of the APC Local Government election campaign.

He led a host of other notable personalities from various political parties, such as former state and national assembly members, the former Labour Party governorship candidate in the state, Edwin Nkwegu, Sen. Obinna Agba, former national and state assembly candidates, and thousands of their supporters, to join the party.

On hand to receive them were the APC’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Gov. Hope Uzodinma, Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State and Minister of Works, David Umahi, State Chairman of the party, Stanley Meghan, and other party chieftains.
