Former Mavin Records star, Korede Bello, has opened up about his personal journey towards wellness, shedding light on the critical moments that shaped his choices and mindsets.

Speaking during an interview on the Say My Piece podcast, monitored by Per Second News, Bello discussed his efforts to avoid potential addictions due to his personality.

Reflecting on his past, Bello revealed that he experimented with marijuana in his youth but quickly decided it wasn’t for him.

“I tried weed before, but it’s not my thing. Very early on in my life—well, not in my life like when I was a child—but it was just something that people did around me,” he shared.

He emphasized his awareness of his addictive personality, stating, “Whatever I find pleasurable can turn into an addiction.”

Bello harped on self-awareness and understanding one’s limits to avoid falling into harmful habits.

“You have to know yourself well. It’s very important because some people can indulge in some things and they will get out of it, and some people would take that something and they are not there. You have to know yourself so you don’t follow everybody,” he advised.

Bello recalled his father’s smoking habit and how his father’s persistent coughing due to cigarette smoking left a lasting impression on him.

“My dad used to smoke a lot of cigarettes, and as a child, he used to send me to get him cigarettes. I noticed something then—he used to cough a lot, so I’d ask him, ‘Daddy, why are you coughing?’ and he’d tell me, ‘It’s because of the cigarette.

“So if you don’t wanna cough like me, don’t smoke.’ Very early on, he already planted something in my mind that this is something unhealthy.”
“Growing up, I tried to be on the wellness spectrum—physical, mental, and emotional,” he explained, illustrating how his father’s influence and his own self-awareness have guided his journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
