The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has confirmed the escape of Nadeem Anjarwalla, the Binance Regional Manager for Africa, from lawful custody in Abuja.

A statement by the Head of Strategic Communication at ONSA, Mr. Zakari Mijinyawa, on Monday and given to Persecondnews said:“Preliminary investigation shows that Mr. Anjarwalla fled Nigeria using a smuggled passport.”

Mijinyawa said security personnel attached to the fleeing suspect have been arrested.

“The personnel responsible for the custody of the suspect have been arrested, and a thorough investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances that led to his escape from lawful detention,” it said.

Persecondnews earlier reported that the Federal Government has slammed a four-count charge against Binance, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange platform operating in the country.

The prosecution aims to uphold the nation’s fiscal responsibility and preserve the nation’s economic integrity.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) announced the charges on Monday, formally lodged at the Federal High Court in Abuja, according to Persecondnews.

Designated as suit number FHC/ABJ/CR/115/2024, the lawsuit implicates Binance in a four-count tax evasion accusation.

Also on Monday, information broke out that Anjarwalla, 38, escaped on Friday, March 22, 2024, from the Abuja guest house where he and his colleague were detained after guards on duty led him to a nearby mosque for prayers in the spirit of the ongoing Ramadan fast.
