Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde, also known as K1 De Ultimate, on Saturday faced serious heat from fans and social media users following his controversial response to a lingering paternity allegation.
The backlash started after a woman, Ogechi, and her daughter, Azizat, publicly accused the singer of abandonment.
Ogechi, who claimed to be his former pedicurist, alleged a 7-year affair that led to pregnancy.
Her daughter, Azizat, who claims to be K1’s child, said the singer denied knowing them when they met in Ijebu Ode, leaving her education in shambles.
Instead of a direct denial or DNA test offer, K1 chose to respond on stage.
Performing at the 10th coronation anniversary of a Lagos Oba, K1 told the crowd that any woman who gets pregnant for him without his consent does so at her own peril.
He described such a pregnancy as “Oyun Sara” – meaning a worthless, unrewarded pregnancy.
Persecondnews reports that the statement has now backfired with fans dragging him.
On X, Facebook and Instagram, Nigerians are slamming the comment as arrogant, reckless and unbecoming of an elderly Fuji music legend.
“For a man nearing 70, K1 should be checking his sexual life, not insulting children,” one user wrote.
“He thinks he’s untouchable because of his connections. No one is above responsibility,” another comment read.
“If you didn’t want pregnancy, you should have kept your body to yourself. Don’t call a child Oyun Sara,” a female fan fumed.
Many are urging the music legend to act his age, stop sleeping around, and address the allegation with maturity – either through a private family meeting or a DNA test – rather than mocking the child involved.
Amid the rising backlash, hashtags #K1 and #OyunSara trended heavily across social media platforms over the weekend.
