Tragedy as woman jumps off speeding boat in Lagos

A woman who boarded a boat from Igando in Alimosho area of Lagos to a riverine community in Ogun State, has committed suicide by jumping off.

About 12 passengers were onboard when the woman abruptly threw off her life jacket and dove into the river.

Persecondnews gathered that on Saturday, March 9 at10p.m., the woman named Folashade Nimotalahi, whose address is unknown, departed from their Isuti jetty located on Isuti Road in Igando, Lagos, and boarded a boat headed for Totowu, Ogun.

Rescue crews were already looking for the woman’s corpse, according to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Police Command.

According to Hundeyin, at around eight in the morning on Sunday, one Rasaq reported the matter to the Igando Police Division.

The spokesperson cited Rasaq as adding in his report, “She left behind one nylon bag containing a bottle of sniper, Alimosho General Hospital cards, and some drugs.”

Detectives from the division made an instant visit to the location, according to Hundeyin.

He stated that while the inquiry was ongoing and efforts were being made to get in touch with the family.
