Juventus’ star midfielder, Paul Pogba, has been handed a hefty four-year ban from professional football by Italy’s anti-doping tribunal.

The decision comes in response to a positive test for testosterone, which surfaced last August following Juventus’ clash against Udinese.

Pogba, a pivotal figure in both club and international football, now faces a prolonged absence from the sport due to this doping violation.

The controversy unfolded after Pogba, 30, tested positive for testosterone during routine anti-doping checks conducted after the Udinese match.

Despite vehement denials and claims that the substance stemmed from a doctor-prescribed food supplement during his time in the United States, the tribunal upheld the stringent four-year ban.

This verdict serves as a significant blow not only to Pogba’s career but also to Juventus, as they lose one of their key players for an extended period.

Representatives for Pogba have expressed dismay over the tribunal’s decision, highlighting the player’s clean record and attributing the positive test to inadvertent consumption of the supplement.

Pogba, who returned to Juventus for a second spell in 2022 after a successful stint at Manchester United, was aiming to regain top form after a challenging season marred by limited appearances and off-field controversies.
