Atiku dumps APC

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ormer Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress.

Alleging a draconian clampdown of democracy in the All Progressives Congress, APC, a derailment of its set objectives in governance and the abandonment of the Nigerian youth.

In a statement issued on Friday morning, Atiku cited a leaked memo from Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State to President Muhammadu Buhari in which the governor cited the fault lines in the ruling party which he urged the president to urgently repair.

Noting that more than a year after the memo that no action was taken to repair the breach, Atiku said the situation has even worsened leaving him with no option than to leave the party.

Associates of the former Vice President led by Alhaji Ibrahim Amin Little, recently  dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Little, who was a leading governorship aspirant of the All People’s Party (APP) in Kano State in 2003,  left with hundreds of followers.

Speaking to reporters after the defection, Alhaji Little said he turned his back on his former party because it failed to deliver on its promises to Nigerians adding that Nigerians, both in Kano and beyond, were in very bad shape under the charge of the APC.
