For Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi, Catholic priest, he mighty just be preparing for today’s Sunday service when assassins came calling, snuffing him.
The bandits had in the wee-hours, set afire Rev. Achi, the Catholic Priest of Saint Peter and Paul Church, Kaffin-Koro in Paikoro Local Government Area, Niger State.
The armed bandits, who were said to have made several previous attempts to attack the community, gained access at 1.00 am, shooting sporadically into the air while they made their way to the church.
Persecondnews recalls that a few days ago the police had celebrated the arrest of four armed bandits planning to launch attack on Maje village near Nasko Magama and other communities.
It was gathered that the killers initially had difficulty gaining access into the Catholic Priest’s residence as they struggled for over an hour.
Out of frustration, the bandits finally decided to set the entire facility ablaze to actualize their desperation to cut short the life of Fr. Isaac Achi.
Confirming the incident, Police spokesman in Niger State, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said: “Armed bandits in the early hours of today invaded the residence of one, Rev. Father Isaac Achi of St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church, along Daza road, Kafin-Koro in Paikoro Local Government Area.
“The bandits reportedly attempted to gain entrance into the residence, but seems difficult and they decided to set the house ablaze while the said Rev. Father was burnt dead”.
Police Tactical team attached to Kaffin-Koro Division were immediately drafted to the area, Abiodun said, adding however that, unfortunately the hoodlums had completed their evil acts and escaped before their arrival.
While the lifeless body of the late Rev. Father Isaac was recovered from the debris, the PPRO said a friend to the deceased, Father Collins who was shot on the shoulder by the bandits is responding to treatment at an undisclosed health facility.
