After the March 2022 attack by terrorists on Abuja-Kaduna train, another attack has been launched at a train station in Edo State.

The AK-47 weilding terrorists injured and kidnapped unspecified number of people waiting to board the train at Igueben in Igueben council area en route to the oil-rich Warri in Delta State.

Persecondnews recalls that terrorists had attacked an Abuja-Kaduna passenger train on March 28, 2022, with about eight people shot dead while over 100 were abducted.

Ransom running into hundreds of millions of Naira were allegedly paid to the terrorists to set most of their captives free.

The attack, however, forced the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) to suspend operations on the route until November 2022.

President Muhammadu Buhari had also reportedly directed security agencies to rescue the victims while the administration also promised to secure the railways across the country.

The remaining 23 captives were released almost six months after they were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists.

At the Edo train station, the terrorists had opened fire in a bid to abduct the passengers.

Meanwhile, Police in Edo have confirmed the incident, saying the gunmen who were armed with AK-47 rifles stormed the train station at 4.00 pm on Saturday January 7 shooting sporadically before seizing the people including children and women.

Persecondnews gathered that the gunmen had on Sunday contacted the families of the kidnapped children, asking them to come and pick them at a filling stations.

However, the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has yet to comment on the incident.
