Buhari launches project monitoring app, EYEMARK

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday launched the National Monitoring and Evaluation Platform — EYEMARK.

Persecondnews reports that Buhari launched the project monitoring website (www.eyemark.ng) with its accompanying Mobil app before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President, who noted that his regime had invested in infrastructure more than the previous administration, said there was the need to create proper avenues for close monitoring of the projects by citizens.

He assured of his commitment in the promotion of citizens participation in government, blaming corruption for poor implementation of infrastructure projects across the country.

Buhari disclosed that the status of projects, total amount appropriated and dispensed so far are now available in the public space.

He urged ministries, departments, and agencies to cooperate with the coordinating ministry — the Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning for the required information to be captured on the platform.

The Minister of State for Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mr Clem Agba, said EYEMARK would help citizens and civil society organisations in monitoring capital projects for delivery in real time and also promote accountability.

“EYEMARK has been equipped with spatial technology to track images and ascertain their origins.”

Before FEC meeting began, the Council observed a minute silence for the late Ambassador Demola Seriki, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain and a former Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources under Umaru Yar’Adua administration, Alhaji Abba Sayyadi Ruma.

Seriki, who died on December 15, was aged 63.

In attendance at the FEC meeting were Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan.

Others were Ministers of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Dr Zainab Ahmed; Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Aviation, Hadi Sirika; Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare; Science and Technology, Olorunimbe Mamora; and Police Affairs, Maigari Dingiyadi.

The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba and his Environment counterpart, Sharon Ikeazor and that of Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva.

Joining virtually were Adamu Adamu (Education), Dr Isa Pantami (Communications and Digital Economy), retired Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi (Defence), Olamilekan Adegbite (Mines and Steel Development), Mr Geoffrey Onyeama (Foreign Affairs) and Mrs Maryam Katagum (Industry, Trade and Investment (State), Sen.
