President Muhammadu Buhari has yet to take a decision on the returning ministers after they backtracked on their ambitions to contest the primaries of APC for presidency and other positions ahead of the 2023 polls, lnformation Minister Lai Mohammed said on Wednesday.

According to Mohammed, the statuses of the four ministers will be decided by Buhari any time soon.

Addressing State House correspondents at the end of Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, the minister said there is need for confirmation from the President about the status of the returning ministers.

“I need to confirm whether or not they have been reabsorbed into the cabinet,” he said.

“The other question about ministers returning or not going. I think you need to give me more time so that I can tell you exactly what the situation is. Right now, I need to cross check.

“I need to confirm again from Mr President what the situation is. You see the final decision on who is going, who is coming back, who is not going lies with Mr. President,” Mohammed also said.

The affected ministers are Dr Chris Ngige  (Labour and Employment), Mrs Pauline Tallen  (Women Affairs), Malam Abubakar Malami (SAN, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice), and Chief Timpre Sylva (Petroleum Resources).

Persecondnews had reported that Malami was physically present at today’s FEC meeting while Sylva and Tallen participated virtually from their offices.

Ngige could not attend as he was said to have traveled to South Africa for the International Labour Organization (ILO) Conference on Child Labour.
