A second republic politician, Sen. Francis Arthur Nzeribe, has passed on.

Aged 83 years, the news of the Oguta-born  politician and businessman broke on Sunday afternoon.

According to a family source, the flamboyant politician died in a foreign hospital.

Persecondnews recalls that Nzeribe had on June 10, 1993,  tried to stop the election, relying on a court order which his group, Association for Better Nigeria (ABN), got from a midnight ruling from the late Justice Bassey Ikpeme of Abuja High Court.

ABN was known to be pro-Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, the annuler of the 1993 presidential poll, the freest in the political annals of Nigeria believed to have been won by the late Chief MKO Abiola.

Born Nov. 2, 1938, the late politician was the Senator for the Orlu Senatorial constituency in Imo from October 1983 to December 1983 and May 1999 to May 2007 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
