A 52-year-old man, Ifeanyi Amadikwa, believed to have gone berserk, has murdered his three children in Emene community of Enugu, Enugu State capital.

The children identified as Chidalum Amadikwa,11 (step-daughter), Amarachi Amadikwa, 8, and Ebubechukwu Amadikwa, 4, were wasted when their mother had gone to the market to ply her trade.

“The wicked, mad man took advantage of the absence of his wife from home to kill the three children and dumped their bodies in a refrigerator in the apartment,” Persecondnews.com quotes a police source as saying.

A petrified mother, on her return from the market in the evening, could not find any of the three children.

“But while searching for them, the suspect drew her attention to the said fridge he had brought back home from his shop on Jan. 2 and kept in their apartment’s veranda,” said spokesman of Enugu Police Command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe.

“On a closer observation, the lifeless bodies of the children were found in the fridge with bruises, suggesting that they might have been murdered and dumped in the fridge.”

He said Amadikwa, who lives at 74 Nkwubor Road, Emene near Enugu, was arrested on Jan. 4 while the bodies of the deceased children had been taken to the morgue.

Meanwhile, the State Police Commissioner, Mr Lawal Abubakar, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.

To this end, he has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department to swing into action and ensure that those found culpable are brought to book..
