Barely 24 hours after Asiwaju Bola Tinubu declared his presidential ambition, incumbent Governor of Ebonyi, Dave Umahi, says he has also formally informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention to run on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).

Umahi said the President has advised him to consult widely in actualizing his dream.

On Tinubu’s entry into the race, the governor said:” l’m not perturbed by Tinubu’s entry into the race as l believe that the contest is not about might.”

Persecondnews.com had reported that Tinubu stormed Aso Rock on Monday to declare his ambition to contest for the presidential ticket in 2023 to Buhari.

Dave Umahi, who defected in 2021 from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, believed that he stood a chance if the APC threw the ticket open.

The governor said he had a lot to show in running governance as business as chief executive of Ebonyi, promising if he gets the opportunity, his presidency will replicate his effort in Ebonyi state at the national level.

“My presidency will replicate what l did in Ebonyi in terms of building of infrastructure, and will bring experience of construction to bear.”

On insecurity in the Southeast, Umahi said he supported political solution to the challenge, lamenting that economic activities of the region had been greatly affected.
