I used her hands for money-making soap, ritualist in police net confesses

Two men are currently cooling their heels in police net in Kwara over the alleged beheading and cutting off of a girl’s hands for fast money rituals.

The suspects allegedly murdered one Rianat Yusuf of Amuyo area of Offa and cut off her head and two hands with one of the hands sold for the sum of N20,000, while the other used the second hand for money-making soap.

The spokesman for the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Okasanmi Ajayi, gave the names of the suspects as Femi Adeniji and Shittu Abdul Malik Wale.

The incident occurred on Sept.14, 2021, when Rianat Yusuf left her home on an errand to buy “kulikuli ” , a snack made with groundnuts, but did not return.

“A case of a missing person was reported at the Offa Divisional Police Headquarters by her father, one Yusuf Taofeek of Amuyo area, Offa.

”Investigations led to the discovery of a headless body of a young lady with her two hands missing at an uncompleted building at Amuyo area, Offa, which was later identified by the father to be that of his missing child,” Ajayi said.

The investigations led to the arrest of one Femi Adeniji of the same area, who confessed to be in possession of the head and hands of the deceased.

Following his arrest, Adeniji confessed that he had sold one of the hands to his accomplice, who is currently at large for the sum of N20,000.

The second suspect, Wale, of Imam compound, Offa, also confessed to have used the second hand of the deceased for money-making soap.

The suspects would be charged to court as soon as the ongoing investigations are concluded, he said and expressed concern over rising incidents of ritual murders among the youths.

Meanwhile, the State Police Commissioner, Mr Amienbo Tuesday Assayomo, has advised youths to shun the desire for quick and easy money, saying there is no alternative to hard work.
