Breaking: Lagos RCCG pastor assassinated on pulpit

274

The House of God has been desecrated by gunmen when they invaded a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at Mile 12 area of Lagos and pumped bullets into Pastor Bolanle Ibrahim’s body.

The pastor was praying for mothers and their children during children dedication when the assailants struck.

Ibrahim, who until his death was an assistant pastor at the King of Kings parish of RCCG at Maidan village, was being dragged out of the service before a senior pastor in the church prevailed on the gunmen and demanded to know what they wanted from him.

Persecondnews learnt that in the process the gunmen hit the senior pastor with the butt of their gun in his mouth. The deceased’s aunt, Mrs Justina Alebiosu commented on the incident: “What happened to my brother is a clear case of hired assassination.

Even before they killed him, they showed him his picture if he was actually the right person they came for. “His death is an unfortunate one, we have lost a gentleman, it was true we were born as Muslims, but we converted to Christianity. My thinking is that my brother had business transaction with someone.

“I was told when the assailants wanted to drag him out of the pulpit where he was praying for women who brought their children for dedication, he begged them to kill him there and that was where he was eventually killed by the gunmen.”

The pastor’s aged mother, Mrs Agnes Ogunowo said sobbing:” The gunmen have taken away my son and friend from me. We both bade each other good bye when we were going to church on the fateful Sunday.

“I am a member of Catholic, but he attends Redeemed Christian Church of God and he was the assistant pastor of the Church, I still don’t understand why they killed my son. He was an easy going person.

“My son has a new baby we are yet to take to church for dedication, now my son is no more. I want to appeal to the police to get to the root of my son’s death, arrest and prosecute the assailants.

“I want God to expose those behind it, I cannot bear his death.”

Confirming the incident, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi said the assailants went for the pastor in the church and killed him.

“We are investigating the case because we have a clue into the killing,” he said, stressing the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Odumosu has directed the tactical Commanders to handle the matter.

“We will unravel the case,” he promised.
