Hope rises as Minister says international flights may resume before October

Baring any hitch, the Federal Government says international flights may resume in Nigeria before October.

The Minister of Aviation, Sen.Hadi Sirika, gave the indication about when international flights will resume on his twitter handle, @hadisirika on Tuesday.

“International flight resumption date is not October. NAMA just issued a routine 90 days Notice to Airmen (NOTAM). In liaison with Health, Foreign Affairs, and PTF COVID-19, we will announce the agreed date, regardless of the ban by Europe, UAE, etc. May be earlier than October,” he tweeted.

The government had said it will liaise with the Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS), other countries and stakeholders before it fixing a date for flight resumption.

It also said the entry ban placed on Nigeria by some countries was one of the factors responsible for the delay in the wake of COVID-19.

PerSecondnews recalls that international flights were suspended as part of measures to contain the pandemic.

Air travelers had called on the government to resume international flights following the resumption of domestic flights on July 8.
