Wike Forged Documents To Indict Amaechi – The Integrity Group

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]n anti-corruption organisation known as ‘The Integrity Friends For Truth and Peace Initiative based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has leveled a damning allegation against Governor Nyesom Wike, accusing him of having used forged and politically fabricated documents to indict his predecessor in office, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, presently the Minister of Transportation.

Executive Director of the anti-corruption group, which also goes with the name; ‘The Integrity Group’, Mr. Livingstone Wechie said his organisation had mistakenly relied on the forged documents to write petition against Amaechi only to discover later that they were forged.

Wechie, who stated these in a statement made available to Persecond News explained that this was part of the reasons why Governor Wike-led administration in Rivers State has not been able to prosecute Amaechi.

Wechie further said that having mischievously achieved his aim of diminishing Amaechi, the Rivers State governor, two years after, is unable to commence prosecutorial actions as of right against the former governor owing to the fact that the forged documents will be challenged.
Accordingly, the group appealed to members of the public and relevant institutions to disregard all documents tendered by it indicting Amaechi, particularly the so-called “Omereji Report” and the White paper by the Rivers State government, stressing that all documents tendered were all politically fabricated and forged Governor Wike just to achieve an unrighteous end.

The Integrity Group had petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in a letter dated July 29, 2015 titled: CORRUPTION, CRIMINAL BREACH OF TRUST, UNLAWFUL ENRICHMENT, AND CONVERSION OF OVER 70 BILLION NAIRA STATE RESOURCES BY FORMER GOVERNOR ROTIMI AMAECHI AND OTHER FUNCTIONARIES’’, demanding the investigation and prosecution of Rotimi Amaechi what it had believed to be “conversion of Rivers monies/proceeds of the purported sales of State Assets including Power Plants, a certain Karibi Whyte Hospital and diversion of some monies from the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service etc”.

Wechie said that although all matters touching on the allegations leveled against Amaechi were part of our good governance and transparency projects done in good faith in line with our principles, unfortunately the Governor Wike-led government cashed into it and mischievously furnished his group with politically fabricated and forged documents which his group sincerely and honestly worked with in good faith wrongly believing same to be genuine.
