Premier League clubs have smashed the summer transfer record, spending about £3.46 billion ($4.67 billion) after the 2026 World Cup, Reuters said, topping last year’s mark of just over £3 billion.
Manchester City anchored the window with a market-leading £458 million spend, followed by Chelsea at £349 million and Tottenham Hotspur at £303 million as teams restructured their squads following the tournament.
Four deals entered the 11 most expensive transfers in Premier League history – Enzo Fernandez and Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, Morgan Rogers to Chelsea and Bradley Barcola to Liverpool.
The boom was not limited to the old elite. Promoted Ipswich Town, Coventry City and Hull City together spent more than £400 million to prepare for life in the top flight.
About 38 per cent of all deals stayed inside the Premier League, so a large share of the cash simply moved between English clubs.
ESPN and Sky Sports were used to confirm completed moves.
Arsenal paid Newcastle £75 million for Bruno Guimaraes and Villa £51-55 million for Ezri Konsa.
They made Piero Hincapie’s Leverkusen loan permanent, bought Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for about £34 million and signed Illan Meslier from Leeds on a free.
Arsenal’s summer departures continued with several permanent moves – Jakub Kiwior completed a move to Porto, Leandro Trossard joined Beşiktaş for around £17 million, Gabriel Jesus headed to Barcelona for £8.5 million, and Christian Nørgaard signed for Everton.
Meanwhile, Fábio Vieira joined Hamburg and Karl Hein moved to Werder Bremen—both for undisclosed fees—while Ethan Nwaneri departed for Borussia Dortmund on a seasonal loan.
Aston Villa spent about £65 million on Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and a reported £59.5 million on Freiburg’s Johan Manzambi.
Joao Gomes arrived from Wolves for £34 million and Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported £47 million.
Villa also signed Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich on a free, took Alejandro Garnacho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan, and added Zion Suzuki from Parma and Matteo Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid on undisclosed fees.
They recouped £117 million from Chelsea for Morgan Rogers, £51-55 million from Arsenal for Ezri Konsa and £35 million from Manchester United for Youri Tielemans. Ollie Watkins joined Al Hilal for a reported fee.
Emiliano Martinez moved to Chelsea for £7.5 million white Donyell Malen joined Roma and Lucas Digne joined Paris Saint-Germain, both undisclosed.
Bournemouth paid Benfica £25.7 million for Antonio Silva, Elche about £21 million for Alvaro Rodriguez and Sevilla about £11.2 million for Juanlu Sanchez. Michele Di Gregorio arrived from Juventus on loan.
They sold Hamed Traore to Marseille for about £6.5 million, Luis Sinisterra to Cruzeiro for about £5.2 million and Enes Unal to Getafe for about £1.2 million. Marcos Senesi joined Tottenham on a free.
Romain Faivre went to Auxerre and Alex Jimenez to Fiorentina, both on loan.
Brentford spent about £40 million on West Ham’s El Hadji Malick Diouf and about £39 million on Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangare while Jaidon Anthony arrived from Burnley for about £17 million.
Jannik Schuster joined from RB Salzburg for about £16.5 million and Callum Wilson arrived from West Ham on a free. Ethan Pinnock left for Coventry for about £6 million.
Jordan Henderson joined Chelsea on a free, Frank Onyeka moved to Coventry undisclosed and Romelle Donovan joined Sheffield United on loan.
Brighton paid Tottenham £50 million for Luka Vuskovic and added Pascal Struijk from Leeds, Costinha from Olympiacos, Michael Svoboda from Venezia, Chema Andres from Stuttgart and Zadok Yohanna from AIK, all undisclosed.
Promise David arrived from Union Saint-Gilloise on loan. Brighton sold Jan Paul van Hecke to Tottenham for £52 million and Carlos Baleba to Manchester United for £65 million.
Jeremy Sarmiento joined Middlesbrough undisclosed, Brajan Gruda went to RB Leipzig on loan, Diego Coppola joined Paris FC, Danny Welbeck moved to Chelsea and Facundo Buonanotte joined Elche on loan.
Chelsea made Morgan Rogers the standout arrival at £117 million from Villa, added Marco Palestra from Atalanta for £47 million and brought Emiliano Martinez from Villa for £7.5 million.
Geovany Quenda arrived from Sporting CP, Emmanuel Emegha and Valentín Barco from Strasbourg, Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace and Danny Welbeck from Brighton, all undisclosed. Jordan Henderson signed on a free.

Aurele Amenda arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt for about £17.2 million, Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest for about £9 million, Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United for about £6 million and Ethan Pinnock from Brentford for about £6 million.
Daniel Bentley joined from Wolves on a free and Frank Onyeka arrived from Brentford on an undisclosed fee.
Crystal Palace signed Oscar Mingueza from Celta Vigo and Takehiro Tomiyasu from Ajax on frees, added Dwight McNeil from Everton undisclosed and took Evann Guessand from Villa on loan with an option.
