Samson Adamu has been appointed the permanent General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football, an historical moment for Nigerian football.
PerSecondNews reports that he is the first Nigerian to hold the postion on a permanent basis after serving in an acting capacity.
He started his acting role in March 2026 following Véron Mosengo-Omba’s exit after more than five years, with CAF initially designating the position interim pending a full appointment.
Earlier as Director of Tournaments and Events, he planned competitions, coordinated operations, and engaged national associations and stakeholders.
The General Secretary’s office handles CAF’s daily administration, implementing leadership decisions and coordinating activities across Africa.
