“I Have Never Traded Sex for Roles,” Kemity Declares

Actress Kemisola Apesin, known professionally as Kemity, has issued a stern rebuttal to allegations of a romantic relationship with colleague Ibrahim Yekini.

Visibly angry Kemity characterized the rumors as baseless social media distractions and cautioned against further attempts to involve her in such controversy.

The rumour surfaced at a time when online conversations were heating up over renewed tension between Austine Emmanuel and Itele.

As fans and critics took sides, a social media user dragged Kemity into the feud, alleging that she was romantically involved with Itele and claiming knowledge of past sexual transactions involving the actress.

Stung by the claims, Kemity took to her Instagram page with a lengthy Throwback Thursday post, using the moment not only to address the allegations but to recount her journey in Nollywood and defend the integrity she says has defined her career.

“I have never used my body to collect a movie role,” she wrote emphatically.

“I have never slept with anyone to get featured in any film. I have never exchanged sex for opportunity.”

The actress insisted that her rise in the Yoruba movie industry was built on discipline, resilience, and consistency, not favours or secret arrangements.

According to her, every opportunity she received was earned through auditions, persistence, and the goodwill that comes from professionalism.

“Before I even met my boss, I already had two wine shops where I was selling wine,” she revealed.

“I worked as a receptionist at Masters Hotel, Ayobo. I was already standing on my own.”

Kemity explained that long before she became a recognised face on screen, she had carved out financial independence for herself.

She described those early hustling years as foundational, shaping her mindset and strengthening her resolve to succeed without compromising her values.

Reflecting on her career trajectory, the actress noted that her journey has never been a straight line.

“From acting, to makeup, and back to acting, my growth has always been step by step. Nothing was handed to me,” she wrote, adding that each phase of her career was driven by necessity and strategy.

She disclosed that her temporary shift from acting to makeup artistry was influenced by the financial demands of film production, stressing that she had to make practical decisions to remain relevant and financially stable within the industry.

Beyond clearing the air, Kemity expressed concern about the kind of legacy she is building, especially as a mother of two daughters.

“I am very intentional about the name I am leaving for my children,” she wrote. “My daughters must grow up knowing their mother stood for something.”

Describing herself as “a child of a churchwoman,” the actress said her upbringing instilled in her strong moral values that continue to guide her choices in the public eye.

She maintained that despite years in the spotlight, her reputation remains intact.

“I know who I am. God knows who I am,” she added. “People can say whatever they like, but my name is not for sale and my body is not a ticket to success.
