The community of Chiranchi, Dorayi Quarters in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano remains in deep mourning following the horrific murder of 35-year-old Fatima Abubakar and her six children in their home on Saturday.

The scene inside was devastating; the attackers had used a heavy sewing machine component to strike the children, leaving them with fatal head injuries.
Kano State Police have since apprehended three suspects, including the deceased woman’s 23-year-old nephew, Umar Auwalu, who reportedly confessed to leading the massacre.
The arrests took place during a specialized sting operation between the late hours of January 17 and the early morning of January 18, 2026.
