Following a standout performance at AFCON 2025, the NFF has passed a vote of confidence in Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle.
Despite finishing third, the team dominated the tournament’s stat sheets, scoring a record 14 goals and going undefeated in regulation time.
NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau expressed satisfaction with the team’s “zest and character,” stating that although they missed the top prize, the quality of football was undeniable.
He further backed Chelle to continue his project, praising the tactical growth the coach has achieved within a single year.
“As the head of a hard-working technical crew, Mr. Chelle has done exceedingly well within the one year he has been with us,” Gusau said.
Gusau expressed optimism about the team’s future, saying, “The future looks very bright”.
The NFF is set to begin preparations for the next AFCON, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, in March.
