Cross River APC Chair Eba Sacked

Mr. Alphonsus Eba, the embattled Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, has been removed from office.

This decision by the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC) follows mounting allegations against Eba, including financial mismanagement, high-handedness, and fueling an internal party crisis.

The SEC cited Eba’s refusal to resign despite repeated demands from chapter chairmen and secretaries of the party as the final factor leading to his removal.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ntufam Ekum Ojogu has taken over as acting chairman and will lead the party until a state congress is convened and his position is formally ratified.

This move is in accordance with Section 17(6) of the party’s constitution which allows the SEC to appoint an acting chairman when the substantive chairman is removed.

Eba’s removal comes amidst allegations of financial mismanagement, high-handedness, and internal crisis within the party.

A group of 35 chapter chairmen and secretaries had demanded his resignation, citing his divisive leadership and refusal to address their concerns.

The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) had also called for Eba’s resignation, stating that his continued leadership poses a threat to the party’s unity and electoral success.
