Just In: Another Minister Resigns

60

Dr. Yusuf Sununu has officially resigned from the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu to pursue his senatorial ambitions, meeting the March 31 deadline for aspiring candidates to resign.

He resigned his plum job to pursue his senatorial ambition in Kebbi State.

Since joining the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in late 2024, Sununu has focused heavily on institutional reform and image laundry.

Sununu reiterated that transparency was the cornerstone of his leadership: “Without trust, whatever we have done will be underrated,” he remarked, noting that his goal from day one was to ensure the ministry’s efforts were no longer overshadowed by past controversies.

“In doing this, we are going to provide leadership, guidance, and we will depend on you for your maximum input because you are the technocrats of the ministry, you are the owners of institutional memory, you are those who know the avoidable infractions.

“So, we must be able to work together to avoid those avoidable infractions. It’s only when we do that, then the mission and vision of Mr. President to eradicate poverty and provide effective humanitarian services will be appreciated by Nigerians and we are ready to do that,”
he said.

Persecondnews reports that Dr. Sununu brings a wealth of legislative and executive experience to his senatorial bid.

Before his most recent cabinet role, he served as Minister of State for Education.

A former member of the House of Representatives for the Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal Constituency, he also leveraged his medical background to lead the House Committee on Healthcare Services.
