Erling Haaland has downplayed comparisons between his goal-scoring record and those of football legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The Manchester City striker insists he’s focused on improving his own game, rather than competing with the historic tallies of the duo.
“No one can get close to Ronaldo and Messi, so no… I’m just Erling, a Norwegian guy scoring goals,”Haaland said, emphasizing his humility.
With 13 goals in the current Premier League campaign, Haaland is the top scorer and will look to add to his tally when Manchester City face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
Haaland’s comments come amid growing debate over whether he could one day reach or surpass Ronaldo and Messi’s career goals, which total over 800 each.
Since joining Manchester City, Haaland has broken several Premier League and Champions League records, earning inevitable comparisons to the legendary duo.
