After seven days in Kuje prison, activist Omoyele Sowore, Aloy Ejimakor, special counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and others have been released after fulfilling their bail conditions on Monday, October 27.
Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel, and others arrested for the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest on October 20 were also released.
They were seen in a video circulating online on Monday, leaving the prison premises with their belongings while singing a solidarity song.
Persecondnews reports that while others were arrested on the day of the protest, Sowore, who led the protests, was arrested a few days later by the Nigeria Police Force when he visited the Federal High Court in Abuja for Kanu’s trial.
They were arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Kuje Area Council, which eventually granted them bail on Friday, October 24.
