Theft Rocks Ibom Air: Passenger Caught Stealing Huge Cash from Foreign National’s Luggage

1.6k

An Ibom Air passenger on a flight from Uyo to Abuja was arrested after allegedly stealing a substantial amount of cash from a foreign co-passenger’s carry-on luggage.

The incident began when a white passenger, upon landing in Abuja, noticed his overhead bag had been tampered with and the cash inside was missing.

Cabin crew, alerted to the suspicion, caught the Nigerian suspect in the act.

The arrest was captured in a widely shared social media video on Thursday seen by Persecondnews, showing the accused being escorted off the aircraft by a flight attendant while other passengers mocked him.

“He raised an alarm which attracted the attention of other passengers. A vigilant lady said she saw the man sitting across her row moving the bag, and she felt it was his.

“It triggered suspicion but the man denied it. An immediate search was conducted on him and the large sum was found in his possession. He was arrested by security agents,” a source said.

Ibom Air has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
