A mix of shock, excitement, and gratitude was expressed by Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, winner of the just-concluded BBNaija 10/10 season, when asked how she intends to handle her new reality.
In an interview with David Adebayo, Persecondnews entertainment editor, the 23-year-old winner, who claimed the N80 million grand prize after defeating 28 other housemates, shared that her victory “still feels like a dream.”
Congratulations on your win. How are you feeling?
I’m excited. I’m very happy. A whole lot is going on in my head right now. I feel so good, excited, overwhelmed, happy, grateful, and thankful.
Has it really sunk in that you won the BBNaija 10/10 season?
Not yet. I’ve not started living in that reality. Everything still feels like a dream. I’m still processing my new reality and trusting God for direction.
What was the first thing your mother said to you after your win?
She said, “My child, you’ve made me proud, and the Lord will honor you too.” Seeing her and the rest of my family there cheering me was everything.
Did you ever have a strategy going into Biggie’s house?
Honestly, no. I didn’t have any strategy. I was just myself. I think my vulnerability was what worked for me. I was real from day one. People called me an “uneducated Yoruba girl,” but that didn’t define me. I kept my head high and lived my truth.
Many celebrities rooted for you during the show. How did that make you feel?
I was amazed! Seeing my mentors post about me was shocking. I didn’t even know what they saw in me, but I’m grateful. Their support meant a lot.
Your background—did it play any role in how people connected with you?
Definitely. I never tried to be who I’m not. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, so everything you saw my dressing, behaviour, and attitude was 100 per cent real.
The house had its ups and downs. What moments stood out for you the most?
The diary sessions were special, especially when Biggie complimented my headgear and said I looked like one of those Lagos Island businesswomen (laughs). I also enjoyed the arena games, Indomie tasks, and “Bare Minimum Week” when we faced our fears.
If you hadn’t won, who would you have rooted for?
Kola or Isabella. Kola’s fashion sense and confidence are top-tier. Isabella is beautiful, talented, and genuine. I also love Dede; she’s sweet.
A lot of people think regional support helped you win. What’s your take?
Maybe a little, because Yoruba people love supporting their own, but I also got massive love from non-Yorubas. That shocked me in a good way.
What plans do you have for the N80 million prize money?
No solid plan yet. I’m taking my time. I want sincere financial advice before spending or investing. For now, I’m just living in the moment and taking baby steps.
Would you consider going back to school?
Maybe. I love education, but business makes more sense for now. The money may look big, but it can vanish fast. I need something sustainable.
You’ve been in Nollywood before. What should the industry expect from you now?
They should expect a better and bolder version of me. I’m a good actress — people in the house told me that often. I can’t wait to show the world my talent.
Are there any actors or filmmakers you’d love to work with?
Funke Akindele tops my list. She’s my number one mentor. I also admire Bimbo Ademoye, Toyin Abraham, Mo Abudu, and Bolaji Ogunmola.
If Biggie calls for an All-Star edition, will you go back?
Yes! Now I understand the dynamics better — how to handle people and situations. I’ll definitely say yes.
You had some clashes in the house, especially with Faith. Any regrets?
Not really. Most fights were misunderstandings. I’ve made peace with some people. As for Faith, I’ve forgiven him, but friendship? I doubt it.
Beyond Nollywood, how do you plan to stay relevant?
I’m still learning. I’ll seek mentorship and guidance from people who’ve been there before. I want to grow the right way.
You’ve mentioned your love for Ebute-Meta. Will fame take you away from there?
Never! Ebute-Meta made me. Even if I move to somewhere else, that place will always be home.
Finally, your Celestial Church members supported you massively. Any words for them?
Shock is an understatement! I’m grateful to all Celestial members worldwide. They showed me love, and I’m proud to represent them. God bless you all.
