Nigerian Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, is facing fresh controversy after the Nigeria Police Force confirmed it has received a formal petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over an alleged incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The petition, dated August 12, 2025, accused the veteran entertainer of engaging in unruly behaviour that reportedly obstructed the safe operation of an aircraft in violation of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023.
The incident is said to have occurred on August 5, 2025, during the boarding process of a scheduled flight.
According to the NCAA, KWAM 1’s actions allegedly disrupted operational procedures and potentially endangered safety, prompting the regulatory agency to seek law enforcement intervention.
In response to the petition, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Command to launch a thorough investigation into the matter.
The investigation will focus on the exact circumstances leading to the altercation and whether the alleged behaviour breached civil aviation safety rules.
Force spokesperson, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement issued at Force Headquarters, Abuja, assured the public that the investigation will be handled with transparency and impartiality.
He emphasized the Police Force’s commitment to ensuring justice is served and maintaining safety in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
“The Force hereby assures the public of its commitment to upholding safety and security within Nigeria’s aviation sector, while assuring stakeholders of improved collaboration towards aviation security and strict compliance with aviation laws,” Adejobi stated.
The development marks a significant escalation of the matter, with the involvement of the country’s highest law enforcement authority.
If found culpable, KWAM 1 could face sanctions under aviation safety laws, which may include fines, restrictions on air travel, or prosecution in the law court depending on the findings of the investigation.
