INEC fixes Aug. 16 for national, state assemblies by-elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to hold by-elections on Saturday, August 16, 2025, for national and state assemblies across the country.

These elections aim to fill vacancies resulting from resignations, deaths, or court-ordered annulments.

The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this during a consultative meeting with political parties in Abuja on Thursday.
