Justice has been served for Salome Adaidu as the High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Thursday sentenced Oluwatimileyin Ajayi to death by hanging for her murder.
Delivering judgment, Justice Simon Aboki found Ajayi guilty of culpable homicide, having determined that he killed and dismembered the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Adaidu.
Ajayi was convicted on a one-count charge of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria and punishable by death.
Persecondnews recalls that Ajayi was apprehended by churchgoers on Sunday, January 12 in Orozo, a community bordering the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and Nasarawa State.
He was found in possession of a polybag containing the dismembered body of the girl.
Ajayi had told the police and newsmen that he had no regrets killing the youth corps member during interrogation.
