The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, has been impeached.
Persecondnews reports that the 40-member legislature impeached Obasa for what they called corruption, financial mismanagement, gross misconduct and abuse of office. Obasa has been in the news for allegedly spending N17 billion on the assembly complex gate among others.
The impeached speaker has faced a grilling in December 2024 by the State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) of which President Bola Tinubu is a member for alleged public insubordination and confrontation to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu during his budget presentation to the lawmakers.
